Joel Embiid is expected to be available for the clash with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.

Embiid missed the game against the Detroit Pistons on Monday with a back injury. Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers decided to let Embiid rest in order to fully recover.

Rivers also noted he doesn’t consider Embiid’s injury a serious one and expects him to play vs the Lakers.

“Yeah, [it’s a precautionary measure]. His back is stiff, and you know, obviously, we want to get through the season with everyone healthy. [Sitting him tonight] is the right thing to do.

I expect [him to play on Wednesday]. But I never know. I don’t know if anyone knows yet. We’ll wait and see,” Rivers said about Embiid, via Justin Grasso of Sports Illustrated.

The Sixers have lost all four games they have played without Embiid this season. However, they are on top of the West (12-6) and will face the top team in the NBA right now (Lakers, 14-4 record).
