Kyrie Irving

With the Nets recently acquiring James Harden, they now have possibly the best offensive trio in the history of the NBA. But they had to give up a lot of their role players for this trade to the point where their defense is now incredibly weak and they have little to no depth on their team. But the big question, though, is can they win the 2021 NBA Championship?

Even before they signed James Harden, they were one of the front-runners for the title. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are a deadly duo themselves and then, at the time, they had Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, Taurean Prince and Radions Kurucs. Jarrett Allen is one of the best young rim protectors in the league and the other 3 players really added depth to the team. LeVert is a streaky type player who can have certain nights where he explodes with a 30 point game, and at just 26, he has a lot of room improvement. All of these players are still young, in fact, and the Nets traded away the majority of their future to sign James Harden. And if the signing of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving didn’t already make it clear, the Nets are playing for the Championship this season and next season. At this point in time, the General Manager doesn’t care about the franchise in even 10 years’ time, just winning these upcoming Championships at all costs.

But has James Harden actually made the Nets a better team? I cannot give a definitive answer to that question as I really don’t know. But I don’t think James Harden will be the source of problems with this team, it’ll be Kyrie Irving.

After Kyrie Irving did his best Dennis Rodman impression and had an unauthorised absence from the Brooklyn Nets, he is now quarantining, due to Covid-19 restrictions, and will be back out on the court shortly. While I appreciate that Kyrie may have personal issues to deal with, he signed a 4 year/ $136,490,600 contract with the Nets to play games for them. But not only is he disrespecting the Brooklyn Nets, he’s also disrespecting the entire NBA organization.

Many fans will tune into Brooklyn Net’s games expecting to see Kyrie play. So if Kyrie doesn’t show up, fans are less likely to watch Nets games. But this is only breaking the ice on issues that are surrounding Kyrie and the Nets. I could make an entire video on this topic and, in fact, that’s exactly what I’ve done. But to save you watching until the end to hear my opinion, I do believe the Nets can win the Championship this season, but I still have the Lakers as my favourite.
