Derrick Rose is bound to have a really interesting season with the Detroit Pistons, as the veteran leader of the team. Rose talked on teammate Sekou Doumbouya’s growth and compared him to former teammate Luol Deng.

Rose, who played six seasons with Deng in Chicago, called the young Frenchman a more athletic version of his former teammate.

“I had a chance to play with this guy named Luol Deng, and Sekou reminds me a lot Luol, but more athletic,” Rose said on Tuesday’s media session.

Rose claimed that Doumbouya improved his handles and his shooting during the long hiatus. The Pistons were not involved in competitive basketball games since March.

Rose is the most experienced and talented player, along with Blake Griffin, in Dwane Casey’s squad. As a result, his part on the growth of young players like Doumbouya and rookie Killian Hayes will be an important one for Detroit.
