The Detroit Pistons are waiving guard Zhaire Smith, per The Athletic’s NBA insider Shams Charania.

Smith was acquired via trade earlier this month, with the Pistons sending center Tony Bradley to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange, but they’ve opted to cut ties with the 2018 16th overall pick. Smith has only played 13 games in his two years in the league due to both injury and illness. He’s almost lost his life because of an allergy and his health problems have been a huge hindrance where his pro career is concerned.

Whether or not another team picks him up remains to be seen.
