Austin Rivers opened up about his father Doc Rivers leaving the Los Angeles Clippers and joining the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rivers said he did not expect the Clippers to fire his father, but he was sure Doc Rivers would have many offers from other NBA teams.

“I told him to chill. I was like, ‘You’ve been coaching for so long. Take a break, man’. Obviously, no one wants to get fired, and I was sad.

As a son, you don’t want to see your dad get fired. But that said, I knew he was going to have offers waiting for him,” Austin Rivers said during his appearance on The Ringer, via Essentially Sports.

Doc Rivers agreed to a five-year deal with the Sixers a few weeks ago.
