Stan Van Gundy shared some of his thoughts on how he plans to use New Orleans Pelicans superstar Zion Williamson in the coming season.
The veteran coach said Williamson could play as center in some games during the 2020/21 season.
“I don’t look at him in any way, as far as, ‘Is he a four or a five?’ I’m not sure those labels matter when it comes to him. I think as we study and try to get more definitive and talk to Zion about what he likes, I think it’s more what positions we want to put him in and who’s best around him and things like that. It’s not limiting him to a position,” Van Gundy told reporters via Zoom on Tuesday.
Van Gundy agreed to a four-year deal with the Pelicans last week and became the new head coach of the team.
For his part, Williamson averaged 15.7 points and 8.6 rebounds during the 2019/20 season, but missed the majority of the season due to injuries.
