Sam Cassell should become the head coach of an NBA team, according to the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, Doc Rivers.

Rivers hopes his assistant will take over a team this offseason, as multiple teams are in search for a new head coach.

“Sam Cassell should be a head coach, period. He’s got an incredibly high basketball IQ, and I just hope he gets a shot. He’s paid every due that’s possible.

When they talk about paying dues, he’s paid every due that is possible and he’s yet to get a job. So, I’m hoping that happens,” Rivers said, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

Cassell has won three NBA titles as a player.
