Los Angeles Clippers head coach Ty Lue says he will forever cherish his time in Boston as a Celtics assistant coach.

“It was a great experience. I think first, just Danny Ainge giving me my first opportunity. They kinda made up a role for me when I first came in. Him and Doc [Rivers] talked about it, just giving me a chance to see if I wanted to coach. So the first year was just kinda a feel out year for me to see if I liked it and wanted to do it. Then after that, I kinda took a liking to it. Just being able to study under Doc and how he dealt with the media, ATO’s, how he dealt with the Big 3 of holding those guys accountable every single night, and then everybody else will fall in line. Just seeing how he dealt with all the things that came with it, and then Danny was great for me too because I always used to go to his office and pick his brain and talk to him about different things. This will always be a place in my heart because it was my first opportunity to coach. I was here for four years and we had a lot of great runs.”
