Fenerbahce Ulker continued piling up talent for the new Turkish Airlines Euroleague season with the signing on Tuesday of high-flying forward Jan Vesely to a two-year contract. Vesely (2.10 meters, 24 years old) was a teenaged starter when he helped Partizan Belgrade reach its first Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs in the 2008-09 season and its first Final Four this century a year later. After his third season with Partizan, he left with averages of 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 23.9 minutes over 54 career Euroleague games. Vesely played particularly well against the biggest teams in Europe. Among his highlights was a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds during the Top 16 in 2010 against that season’s eventual champion FC Barcelona. He had another double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds in his first Final Four game that spring, an overtime loss to Olympiacos Piraeus. Vesely arrives from Denver of the NBA, where he was traded after two-and-a-half seasons from Washington. In 162 career games between the two teams, he averaged 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 15.2 minutes over 162 NBA games.
