Joel Embiid was playing through an ankle during the first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics.
The head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Brett Brown, revealed the news, while speaking to reporters after Game 4.
Brown said he and Embiid were in constant communication regarding his injury, yet Embiid was willing to play.
Embiid and the Sixers lost all four games and were swept by the Celtics.
Embiid averaged 30 points and 13 rebounds in the series against Boston.
Brett Brown said Joel Embiid was also battling his ankle bothering him in the playoffs, said him & Embiid communicated about it often & that he 'played through it.'
Brown on Embiid:: "I was proud of what he did in the playoffs as a post player."
