Joel Embiid was playing through an ankle during the first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics.

The head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Brett Brown, revealed the news, while speaking to reporters after Game 4.

Brown said he and Embiid were in constant communication regarding his injury, yet Embiid was willing to play.

Embiid and the Sixers lost all four games and were swept by the Celtics.

Embiid averaged 30 points and 13 rebounds in the series against Boston.
