Nets' Howard dream end

The Brooklyn Nets have just ended their pursuit of Dwight Howard by signing Brook Lopez on a 4-year, $61 million contract extension.

Lopez, who would be the centerpiece of a potential Howard deal, cannot be traded until January 15 under the new CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) rules. Unless Orlando Magic decide to keep Howard until the next trade deadline -which would be a huge risk- the Nets won’t have a chance to trade for him.

Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets are the best potential suitors for Howard now, but Magic are in no hurry. Magic general manager Rob Hennigan said he spoke with Howard on Wednesday and didn’t rule out the possibility that Howard could be on the roster when the training camp begins.
