According to reports from Sham Charania, Johnnie Bryant was hired by the New York Knicks as associate head coach in the new technical staff of Tom Thibodeau.

After his playing career, Bryant played overseas for some time before returning to Utah. Once back in Utah, he began coaching basketball athletes of all ages in the heart of Salt Lake City. His work was noticed by the Jazz brass direction and was carried out to help train the musicians.

Bryant, now 34, has been working with Jazz since their 2012-13 season. He was initially hired as a player development officer. He has since been promoted and made his way through the ranks of the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz. He has been credited with developing stars Damian Lillard, Paul Millsap, Gordon Hayward, and Donovan Mitchell.
