Ben Simmons has addressed his season-ending Achilles injury, sharing a message of resilience on Instagram after an MRI confirmed a torn right Achilles tendon.
The Sacramento Kings guard posted an Instagram story on Sunday, October 18, following the injury he sustained during practice earlier that day.
“I’ve faced challenges before that tested me mentally, physically, and emotionally, and I’ve found a way through every single one of them,” Simmons wrote. “This injury is another chapter in my journey, not the end of my story.”
The 30-year-old was preparing to return to the NBA after rehabilitating from back surgeries, making the injury a particularly difficult setback. According to Shams Charania, Simmons had impressed during training camp and the preseason before the incident.
“It’s never easy being away from the game I love, especially after everything it took to get back here,” Simmons added. “But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that adversity doesn’t define you. How you respond to it does.”
He finished his message by expressing confidence in his ability to overcome the latest challenge.

“I’ve been knocked down before, and I’ve always found a way to get back up. This time will be no different.”
Simmons had made two preseason appearances for Sacramento before the injury. He recorded 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in 26 minutes against the San Antonio Spurs on October 17, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and making all four of his free throws.
He had played nine minutes against the Golden State Warriors on October 11, finishing with seven points and one assist.
The performances offered a glimpse of what Simmons could bring to Sacramento after a difficult stretch marked by injuries and limited availability. He last played in the NBA during the 2024-25 season, splitting time between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.
Simmons appeared in 51 games that season, averaging 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists across both teams.
