Donovan Mitchell had the best night of his young career, scoring 57 points in Game 1 of the first-round matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

Despite his incredible performance, Mitchell seemed to be disappointed with a costly mistake in the last two minutes of the regulation.

“It’s tough to lose the first game … but there’s a lot of things we could control,” Mitchell said after the game, per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. “I put a little bit on myself for the 8-second violation, and then they come down and hit a 3, and that really changed the entire game, that sequence right there.”

That’s my fault as a leader and as a point guard at that time,” Mitchell continued. “That’s terrible on my part.” In the next Nuggets’ possession, Jamal Murray hit an important three-pointer to cut Utah’s lead to one with less than two minutes remaining.

The scoring guard from Canada continued to “burn” Jazz defense for the rest of the night to lead Denver to the win.
