Rajon Rondo could be available for Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers, says the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers Frank Vogel.

Rondo was forced to leave the Orlando “bubble” in July to undergo thumb surgery (fractured right thumb). Although he was expected to remain out of action for four to six weeks, it seems he will return sooner than expected.

According to Vogel, Rondo is doubtful for Game 1, but it is possible he will suit up to play.

The veteran guard returned to practice on Monday and was very excited about it.

Game 1 between the Blazers and the Lakers will take place on Tuesday.
