Italian international Alessandro Gentile has re-signed for EA7 Milano on a 3-year deal, the club have announced on their team website.

Gentile decides to stay in Milan, despite being picked in the 2014 NBA Draft in the second round. He was selected with the 53rd pick by the Houston Rockets.

The Maddaloni native though has wisely picked regular first team basketball at a club where he helped win the Serie A title last season by beating Montepaschi Siena in the Finals, thus ending their seven year winning run.

The 22-year-old also scooped MVP honours in the Finals, and became the youngest captain to win the Serie A crown in the club’s history.

Last season was perhaps one of Gentile’s finest in his playing career. He helped Italy to a quarter-final birth at Eurobasket in Slovenia last year, then guided EA7 Milano to a surprise last eight finish in the Euroleague where they lost out to eventual winners Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv.

Gentile averaged 11 points in the Euroleague last season, including a career-high 24 points against Barcelona, where Milano ended the Catalan side’s 26-game unbeaten run in the Top 16.

The guard started his career with Benetton Treviso before being signed by Milano in 2011.
