Mark Jackson did not end up getting hired to become the New York Knicks head coach, but he said he still wants to coach again.

“I appreciated the love from the Knicks fans,” Jackson said, during an ESPN conference call. “I truly look forward to having the opportunity to coach again. I had a blast at Golden State, built incredible relationships that will last a lifetime and I look forward to the challenge of coaching again.”

Jackson spent seven seasons as the Knicks point guard and was rumored to be one of the frontrunners to be named their head coach.

He may end up getting an opportunity to coach the Brooklyn Nets instead. They fired Kenny Atkinson earlier this season and are currently led by interim coach Jacque Vaughn. Brooklyn is rumored to be interested in hiring Jackson.

Jackson has shown he knows how to develop young players including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. He coached the Warriors for three seasons, but has not been hired since. Steve Kerr took over as Golden State’s head coach and the Warriors won the NBA title in his first season as their head coach.
