New Orleans Pelicans rookie sensation Zion Williamson has temporarily left the Orlando bubble due to an “urgent family medical matter” as announced by the team and reported by Stadium. He is expected to rejoin the Pelicans at a later date.
“We fully support Zion’s decision to leave the NBA campus to be with his family,” said Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin. “Out of respect for the Williamson family, we will have no further comment at this time.”
Williamson is one of the key pieces for New Orleans, who will try to make a push for the playoffs. Currently, the Pelicans are 10th in the Western Conference, four wins behind the eight seed Memphis Grizzlies.
