Los Angeles Lakers newcomer JR Smith revealed what it means for him to play on the same team on which the late Kobe Bryant played. The 34-year-old guard responded to a tweet by the rapper O’Shean Jackson Jr. who remembered that he wanted Smith to play together with Kobe.

“Appreciate it bro! It’s an honor to play in his memory for as long I wear the colors!” the new Laker tweeted. Smith should make his debut for the Lakers on July 23 when Los Angeles will take on the Dallas Mavericks in a scrimmage. The first official game for him will be on July 31 against the Clippers.
