TJ Parker, the brother of former NBA superstar Tony Parker, will become the new head coach of LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne.
The former San Antonio Spurs point guard and president of ASVEL talked about the new head coach, on an interview in L’ Equipe.
“TJ Parker will be the head coach, the boss. Frédéric Fauthoux will be his assistant,” Parker noted, per Eurohoops.net. “I believe TJ is ready. The timing is correct.”
TJ Parker joined the team in 2013, becoming the interim head coach in the middle of the 2018-2019 season. He returned in the assistant role under former head coach Zvezdan Mitrovic.
“For me, there is no element of surprise,” Parker continued on his brother’s appointment as the head coach.
“I had said he would eventually become the head coach. We were preparing him for the position. I trust my instincts and believe TJ is ready.”
