Red Star Belgrade are rumoured to be the Cibona Zagreb’s replacements in next season’s Euroleague if the Adriatic League champions confirm to opt out.

Cibona are reported to give up their sport in the Euroleague next season due to financial troubles and various disputes with players, many of whom have not been paid by the club.

The Zagreb-based side won the ABA crown last season.

“I spoke with the leaders of Cibona, they told me that they give Euroleague spot to us. In this case, Red Star goes directly to the Euroleague, Partizan and probably in qualifying,” said the general manager of the ABA, Roman Lisac.

Partizan Belgrade will then replace Red Star in the Euroleague Qualifying Rounds before the regular season begins.
