Sarunas Jasikevicius could start his coaching career next season in Kaunas, should he accept the offer presented to him.

Greek website sport24.gr reports that Lithuanian champions Zalgiris offered a three-year deal to Saras, starting from next season, to become a head coach of the Kaunas side.

Despite being 38-years-old, Jasikevicius has not yet made a decision to retire. Four-time Euroleague champion will discuss his future with his family this summer before deciding whether to continue his playing career.

Jasikevicius has a wealth of experience having worked with such coaches as Zeljko Obradovic, Pini Gershon and Svetislav Pesic. Obradovic once said that Saras has what it takes to become a successful coach.

It’s not the first time that Saras is offered a coaching role. In 2012 Panathinaikos wanted him in their coaching staff with an option to become a head coach. However, Saras decided he’s not yet ready to retire as a player.

Zalgiris has several young players in their roster and the number could increase next season. The authority of Jasikevicius could play an important role in case he becomes the head coach.
