Last 32 finale before the eighthfinals, Eurocup round up

The Last 32 of the Eurocup is complete, and for the previously eliminated Euroleague teams that joined at this stage; four out of the eight advance to the eighthfinals of the competition.

Group I

Despite an 85-77 loss to Cantu, Ratiopharm Ulm advanced to the next round due to the head-to-head and with Nanterre beating Karsiyaka Izmir 76-57 in the other game, the French side advanced through with Ulm to the eighthfinals.

Group J

Gravelines ended their Eurocup campaign with an 86-72 win over Aykon Ankara, who themselves finish top of the group, despite the loss. Dinamo Sassari advanced at the expense of Brose Baskets as the Italian Cup winners thrashed Bamberg 102-84.

Group K

Khimki ensured themselves homecourt advantage up until the Eurocup finals as they thrashed Maccabi Haifa 86-66 to finish the Last 32 unbeaten and at the same time, eliminate the Israeli champions. That result meant that CEZ Nymburk progressed to the next round, despite a final day 86-84 loss to already eliminated Montepaschi Siena.

Group L

Red Star Belgrade and Nizhny Novgorod had already qualified from the previous week and it was the latter who won the final day battle between the two in the Serbian capital 78-74. The other game, played purely for pride saw Bilbao get the better of Panionios 88-84 as the Greek side end the second round 0-6.

Group M

Budivielnik Kiev are through to the next round after they defeated Union Olimpija 87-83 in Ljubljana. That meant BK Banvit’s convincing 93-79 win over group winners Hapoel Jerusalem was in vain.

Group N

Khimik Yuzhne have progressed to the eighthfinals after they beat Strasbourg 74-63, eliminating them in the process. Group winners Alba Berlin dumped Radnicki out after the German side were 92-83 victors at the 02 World.

Group O

With Valencia and Unics Kazan already through and played yesterday, it was a dead rubber game in Poland as Telenet Ostend edged Stelmet Zielona Gora 84-80. Zielona Gora end their Euroleague and Eurocup season bottom with a 1-5 record while Ostend finished 3-3.

Group P

Lietuvos Rytas advanced to the next round after some clutch free throw shooting eliminated Cedevita Zagreb 75-74 in Vilnius. Besiktas scored with less than 6 seconds left to secure a 79-77 road win at Zaragoza which eliminated the Liga Endesa side and put them through.
