FIBA have announced that 15 nations have applied for the four available wildcard entries in next year’s World Cup in Spain.

Out of those 15 teams, nine of them are from Europe, including a surprise entry from Israel. The Americas area have submitted three entries, Asia have two and Africa one.

FIBA will announce the four successful wildcard nations on the weekend of February 1-2 in Barcelona with the draw taking place on February 3. The World Cup takes place August 30-September 14.

No more than three nations from one FIBA zone can receive the wildcard spots.

Brazil, Canada, Venezuela [Americas]

China, Qatar [Asia]

Bosnia & Herzegovina, Russia, Italy, Poland, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Finland [Europe].
