Lietuvos Rytas and BC Ostend will contest the final of the Euroleague qualifying round after both picked up semi-final victories.

Martynas Gecevicius’ 34 points ensured Lietuvos Rytas’ passage to the final after they beat Oldenburg 99-87 at the Siemens Arena.

The Lithuanians were able to maintain the lead that they had built in the second quarter to get the win. Gecevicius, who hit eight three-pointers on the night, nailed five of those in the second period of play.

Omar Cook added 14 for the victors.

German side Oldenburg will play Eurocup basketball next season after their brave run came to an end at the hands of the hosts.

Chris Kramer led Oldenburg with 24 points.

Ostend held on in the dying seconds to join the Lithuanian side in the final. They beat Banvit 82-80 in a nailbiting encounter in the final game in Vilnius.

A 13-0 run sealed the deal in the end for the Belgians but they had to endure a late charge from their Turkish counterparts. The celebrations began though when Sammy Mejia’s jumper bounced out.

Ryan Thompson led the winners with 19 points with Dusan Djordjevic scoring 14.

Banvit, a team expected to join Lietuvos Rytas in the final will instead be in the Eurocup. Mejia was outstanding, despite being on the losing end. He grabbed a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds.
