NEW YORK and MADRID, March 5, 2020 – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Tech Smart Sports Connectors Corp., today announced a partnership that makes OWQLO, a New York-based mobile platform that serves as an information hub for sports organizations, the official Jr. NBA League app in Europe and Latin America.  The Jr. NBA OWQLO App will first launch in the United Kingdom and Puerto Rico and will be available in 29 countries across Europe and Latin America where Jr. NBA leagues operate ahead of the 2020-21 Jr. NBA League season.

To help improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents, the OWQLO app will incorporate a dedicated Jr. NBA League section where participants will have free access to league information, news, photos, videos and other content all in one place.  Exclusive for Jr. NBA League players, coaches and parents, OWQLO users will be able to create a personal profile to receive customized information about upcoming practices, events and games.

The partnership will leverage OWQLO’s technology to enable Jr. NBA League coaches to provide teams with personalized basketball development instructions and parents with private progress reports on their child’s development through the app.

The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. The NBA currently has 89 Jr. NBA leagues in 31 countries in Europe and the Middle East reaching over 40,000 boys and girls ages 10-14.  In Latin America, the NBA has Jr. NBA leagues in Argentina, Puerto Rico, El Salvador and Uruguay.

During the 2019-20 season, the NBA and its teams will reach more than 60 million youth in 72 countries through league play, in-school programming, clinics, skills challenges, and other outreach events.

“We are incredibly proud to be partnering with the Jr. NBA to bring the OWQLO experience to a global basketball audience,” said Tech Smart Sports Connectors Corp. Co-Founder and CEO Nacho M. Trujillo.

“We are confident that Jr. NBA League teams and players will find OWQLO to be a valuable community-building platform that will provide easier access to information and basketball development resources,” said NBA Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations in EMEA Chus Bueno.  “OWQLO is not only an engaging channel for youth basketball stakeholders, but also a valuable tool for the Jr. NBA to expand and enhance the content around our programs in Europe and Latin America.”

OWQLO branding will be present at selected Jr. NBA league events in Europe and Latin America, including Jr. NBA Drafts and Jr. NBA Finals events, and will be featured on game uniforms and included in program materials.

Jr. NBA Basketball England League and Jr. NBA Puerto Rico League participants and parents can download for free a new version of OWQLO on iOS and Android today.
