France coach Pierre Vincent, who masterminded his women to silver at the London Olympics has decided to stay on as national coach for Eurobasket next year and beyond.

Vincent Collet will also remain as the head coach of the men’s team as they prepare for Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia in September.

Vincent will lead his side out as the host nation next June as they look for their third straight podium finish at Eurobasket. Les Bleues won gold in Latvia in 2009 and bronze two years later in Poland.

The President of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) Jean-Pierre Siutat is looking ahead to the Rio Olympics in 2016 and he sees it as a priority to organise and prepare both men’s and women’s teams when the Olympics arrives in Brazil.

“The priority determined by the FFBB is to prepare the two teams of France to take part in the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016,” he said.

Collet led the men’s national side that went out at the quarter-finals of the Olympics in London to Spain.

“Vincent and Pierre have an excellent track record with their respective teams,” Siutat said.
