The Milwaukee Bucks held an open training session to the media on Thursday afternoon. Shortly after, the current MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo held a 10-minute press conference.

In the press conference, a question regarding Zion Williamson’s New Orlean Pelicans debut arose. In Williamson’s much-anticipated debut, following injury, he dropped 22 points in just 18 minutes. This was on 8-11 field goals. Alongside the points, he had 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Antetokounmpo was asked whether he watched the game and if he had some advice for the rising star Williamson.

“I wasn’t able to watch it, because it was late here. But when I woke up I watched the highlights and I saw that he scored like 17 points in 4 minutes. It’s amazing. I’m really excited for him, really happy for him to get back healthy and get out to help his team win.”

Whilst giving advice, Antetokounmpo alluded to Williamson’s reputation for injuries. Urging the 19-year old to stay calm, take his time, and trust the process.

“Advice I would give to him, self-patience, work hard, and make sure you’re healthy. Because I saw some highlights, I saw he was wearing some sleeve on his knee that was hurting… don’t rush, don’t rush it. Don’t rush the process. You’re going to be a beast. The whole league knows you’re going to be a beast. Just take it step-by-step, day-by-day… help your team win and dominate the league.”

Antetokounmpo clearly is excited by the prospect of a healthy Zion Williamson in the NBA. He appears to have confidence in Williamson to dominate the league and help his team win at the same time.

One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to see both players lock horns on the court for years to come.
