Zvezdan Mitrović, the head coach of ASVEL Villeurbanne, was satisfied after his team’s victory against Panathinaikos (79-78).
After two rounds in the EuroLeague, newcomer ASVEL scored two wins, both against Greek clubs – Olympiacos in the first round and now against Panathinaikos.
After the game against the “Greens”, Mitrović explained that his team wasn’t even imagined this outcome at the beginning of the EuroLeague season.
“My team tonight showed amazing character and an amazing game. When we went down we still tried to fight until the last second. In the end, we started to play really good defense and I think we deserved to win. In the craziest dreams, we couldn’t imagine that we would open the EuroLeague season against two legendary Greek teams and win both games at home,” Mitrović mentioned after the game.
In the third round of the EuroLeague, Bayern will host ASVEL and this will be another challenge for the French squad.
