BasketbalIts awesome baby, it’s all about drama baby! No, this is not Dick Vitale nor Bruce Darnell , it’s just another edition of the potpourri with basketball-related news collected from around the globe.

NBA

Stephon, the business man…so who needs basketball?

Ex-Bull Jason Caffey goes to jail.
Lesson for you aspiring pro ballers out there: Carry always condoms in your pockets…

So…when is Oklahoma City signing Maybach Williams or Gucci Thompson out of the D-League?
Sorry Mr. Martin but I could not pass on that one…but my all-time favorite is this one here.

Want to meet Paul Pierce during the summer? Check out this camp for high school-kids here.

US College Hoops

More American pupils for Europe. But let’s see how high Brandon gets drafted. If it works out well…say hello to LeQuadrell instead of Bozidar.

E! presents: “Is he Paul’s cousin or not?

Jonathan Xavier wanted to talk to the ref about a foul committed on his brother Jeff (Who is really a nice person – Plays also internationally for Cape Verde)…well, he actually did that during the game…

Europe

Kareem Krause, an amateur player from Baunatal, Germany, got a life sentence for allegedly punching a referee. No, he’s not in jail…but he has been banned for life by the local basketball federation.
Tough decision for a 26-year old as it would basically mean, that he can’t play in any competition run by a federation associated with FIBA !? His team has appealed now the decision, as they claim, that Kareem hit the ref only once not three times, and they got it all on tape. Problem here: Video-tapes can’t be used for evidence according to the federation’s law…

Rod Benson got injured while writing his blog in Nancy? …no, he’s back in the D-League and got injured while actually playing the game.

Pooh Jeter is back with his own blog at Draft Express. He should have asked the “Godfather of Basketball-blogs” Paul Shirley about his Menorca-experience.

Asia

I really have to recommend the China Diaries of Jason Rabedeaux, who is coaching a pro team in the CBA.
Here is also a recent interview given by Rabedeaux.

Latin America

No Flamenco at Flamengo.
Okay that sounds like a boulevard newspaper, but actually it could be very sad news for basketball in Rio.
How about contracting these supporters here to entertain the opponents from the sideline? I bet that would increase the rates on TV and the fans in the gym rapidly…

Africa

Tanzania may miss qualifiers for the African Championships, citing the lack of funds.
The same country tried to bring in their star player Hasheem Thabeet (UConn) for the national team.
I wonder what would have happened if he would have joined the team just to fly back without playing in a single game…

Street

If you never heard of Booger, you don’t know anything about New York basketball!
I strongly recommend the movie “Soul in the Hole”, a classical streetball joint.
And Brandon Jennings made the “high top” fashionable again…

That’s all for this edition. Hope you check back soon here on Entertainment Wee…eeh Fiba.com for more basketball coverage that will help you to get through the winter!

I’m out like Jim, Jeff, John and FOX.
