Two weeks before the start of the FIBA World Cup in China, many teams are facing economical adversities.

Namely, the players of Venezuela and Ivory Coast NT went on strike in the recent weeks.

Yesterday, Nigeria’s players lamented the lack of money for training, practicing and food.

Ekpe Udoh talked about the situation on his twitter account.

“With two weeks before the FIBAWC, The Nigerian Sports Commission refuses to release the money allocated to us for training, travel, and food! We have a special team and possibly the best yet. I hope this gets resolved soon…”

Also, the San Antonio Spurs’ forward, Chimezie Metu, wrote a post on Twitter claiming that “the president of the federation, the coaching staff and even the players pay for everything personally.”

The members of the team expressed the hope that the situation will be resolved in the next few days.

Nigeria will compete in Group B of the FIBA Basketball World Cup against Russia, Argentina and South Korea.
