Less than three weeks before the start of the 2019 Basketball World Cup, the players of Cote d’Ivoire went on strike.

As reported by sport-ivoire.ci, the Basketball Federation of the country owes the players money (bonuses), while it has not covered the medicals as well.

“We haven’t received any bonus since the beginning of the training a month ago. The Federation promised that we would receive half of the bonuses, but the GM came to Madrid and we still weren’t paid.

We request to receive our debts both for the preparation and the World Cup,” captain Guy Landry Edi told the website.

Cote d’Ivoire will face China, Venezuela and Poland in the group stage of the World Cup.
