Mirza Begic has decided to withdraw from the Slovenian National Team squad due to his injruy problems and the Slovenian selector, Juri Zdovc has called Jurica Golemac instead.
The 32-year old forward started the season playing for Panellinios Athens but after his team got quickly knocked out by Maroussi in Greek A1 play-offs he finished the season playing for Roma.
Zdovc has been facing various problems since he first announced his preliminary list of players as since then Becirovic, Preldzic and Begic will stay out of Eurobasket 2009, each for a different reason. Zdovc stated:
"I was planning to give a chance to the youngsters who would be the core of the National Team in the future and both Preldzic and Begic could not make it for vairous reasons. Therefore I called Golemac who is motivated to resresent Slovenia."
It is worth to mention that Golemac is Croatian-born.
