Paul George and Kawhi Leonard sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols to answer some questions about their move to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Kawhi revealed that he was trying to get the San Antonio Spurs to sign Paul George but it didn’t work out:
“I was trying to get San Antonio to get him over to us. You know how things work with trades, he ended up to the Thunder. But that’s probably when the initial idea started, when he wanted to get out of Indiana.”
“I was very close. Real close. But when [the Clippers] presented the opportunity of playing with Paul, it was easy, it was a yes. I said let’s get it going.”, said Leonard when asked how close he was to joining the Lakers or staying in Toronto.
