As if it’s not enough that Slovenian NT will play Qualification tournament for Olympic Games without such players as Beno Udrih, Sasha Vujacic, Bostjan Nachbar and Erazem Lorbek, perhaps they will loose another important player – Matjaz Smodis (205 cm, PF, CSKA Moscow) – now. He has problems with his right foot.
He’s waiting for opinion of his American doctor who operated his left foot earlier this year and to whom he already sent his medical diagnosis. Smodis said that he fells constant pain for three weeks now, but that nothing is broken or sprained. Pain could be consequence of overburdening his right foot because he had to rest his left more after the operation.
It will be all clear next week when his doctor will express his opinion. If Smodis won’t be able to play that would mean huge loss to Slovenian NT who has to cope with absences because of injuries, uncertain future or personal issues for few years know. In case of “Rocky’s” absence probably Zeljko Zagorac (204 cm, PF, Anwil) will be called up.
