PAOK practically destroyed their arch-rivals Aris, in the local Thessaloniki derby, last night, by beating them 83-48. The 35 points difference constitutes an all times record-high victory of PAOK over Aris.
Most pundits predicted that the game would be absolutely balanced, but it proved to be rather easy for PAOK. In a packed "Pylea Arena" PAOK started the game better and showed Aris who would be the boss of the game from early stages. Being led by Kafkis and Monroe PAOK finished the first quarter leading with the amazing score of 26-8. Aris continued struggling, especially on the offensive end, in the second quarter as well and went to the locker rooms being down 48 to 20. Aris made a total of 6/28 from the field goal in the entire first half.
With the record in view, PAOK did not stop and tried to increase the difference even further and succeed doing so as the third quarter ended by PAOK reaching a +34 points difference, 70-36. In the last quarter PAOK fielded several young players, but even then Aris was unable to react and the final score of the game was 83-48.
