BBL ChampionshipFollowing a weekend of tight games and surprises, PAWS London Capital Centre Ibrahim Gariba leads the Team of the Week this week, as his side start to turn up the pressure in the BBL Championship table. In their first win of the 2009/10 season, 85-82 over the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders, the 6'9'' Centre was only three rebounds off a double-double, as he led the way with 30 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 9/13 from the field and 12/14 from the charity stripe in 26:59 of action.

BBL rookie Mike Cook also turned in another brilliant weekend for the in-form Sheffield Sharks, as his side won both of their games, whilst their closest rivals lost, and they went top of the BBL Championship table, whilst advancing to the next round of the cup. Cook notched a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds on Friday evening against the Glasgow Rocks in a BBL Championship game, whilst shooting 100% from the free throw line, and against the Thunder the next evening in the Cup, put up 31 points, 6/8 shooting from the free throw line.

The Essex Pirates surprised a few people this weekend. After a narrow 71-78 loss against the Worcester Wolves on Saturday, they bounced back superbly to beat the Worthing Thunder 88-82. Taner Adu earned his place this week with an impressive 29 point haul, as the Forward played 40 minutes and knocked down all fourteen of his free throws.

Frank Holmes will partner him as the other forward this week, as the American contributed a double- double of 18 points and 15 rebounds in the Marshall MK Lions 89-67 demolition of the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders. He added to this four blocked shots, and 2/2 from behind the arc.

This week's team of the week is completed by charismatic BBL new boy 'LA' Aaron Drakeford, who in the Guildford Heat's 102-98 overtime win at the Spectrum against the Newcastle Eagles, scored 24 points and dished out 7 assists, whilst he was on court the whole game for the Surrey-based franchise.
