LKLThere will be 11 teams in Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) next season after the third team from Kaunas was accepted. The team, which will be called after the name of their town, won NKL (second league in Lithuania) this year. Despite losing qualification playoffs against Suduva (bottom LKL club), they still applied for a place in LKL for the next season.

The team is formed of young players. Most of them are members Lithuanian national teams of different age groups. The club was a "B" team of Zalgiris and was called "Zalgiris-A.Sabonis school" until now.

This fact made LKL board worry that there might be two clubs with the same owners which would be a breach of league's rules. Though the club is now a separate orgasination and there are no legal issues.

The team won Euroleague youth competition last year. Kaunas will be strenghtened with a players that are currently on loan at other LKL clubs.
