PGE Turow Zgorzelec named Andrej Urlep its new head coach on Thursday. Urlep, who takes over from Sasa Obradovic, is expected to be on the sidelines for Saturday’s Polish League contest against Anwil Wloclawek.
The 52-year-old coach is a well-known figure in Polish basketball, having won the Polish League five times and finished as runner-up twice. He also coached the Polish national team for a period. Urlep inherits a talented Turow squad that is ranked fourth in the Polish League at 6-4 and last in its Eurocup regular season group at 0-2.
Among the teams he has coached during his career are Slask Wroclaw, Anwil Wloclawek and Basket Kwidzyn in Poland.
