ImageSpartak St. Petersburg announced the hiring of Israeli coach Zvika sherf as their new head coach, after the resignation of Aleksandar Trifunovic, some days ago.

During his long career Sherf has won 10 Israeli championships and 6 Israeli Cups. In 1992/93 he won the Saporta Cup coaching Aris Thessaloniki and has reached three European Champions Cup or Euroleague finals, with the last one being in 2007/08 season with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In 1997/98 he led PAOK Thessaloniki to the 2nd place of Greek A1 while he has also coached Israel National Team in World Championship and Eurobaskets with the latest one being this past September in Poland Eurobasket 2009. He is not stranger to the Russian basketball as he coached Dynamo Moscow for more than a season during 2003-2005 period.
