BC Spartak St. Petersburg have made an offer to Olympiacos’ Loukas Mavrokefalidis.

According to information the Russian club is offering the Greek international player around 1.000.000 euros per year.

Mavrokefalidis contract expires in three days and although Olympiacos had declared their intention to keep him, as he was one of their key players during the last two seasons, today’s developments won’t allow the club to offer any new contracts for the time being.

The player, who is closer than ever making his debut in a major tournament with Greece NT in Eurobasket 2011, was receiving 550.000 this season, but he will surely look to find a better offer.

Jure Zdovc, the team’s coach who was signed for three seasons, is trying to build a competitive squad, as Spartak has made a bid for one of Euroleague’s qualification round wild cards.
