The Dallas Mavericks (1-1) earned their first season’s victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves (1-1) at home (140-136).

In the scoring race, a 19-year-old Slovenian, Luka Doncic, led the Mavs with 26 points, on shooting 8-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-9 from three. He also grabbed 6 boards, made 3 assists and 2 steals in 36 minutes of action.

At the beginning, Doncic missed his first three shots and made several turnovers, but in the second quarter he switched gears and scored 15 points. DeAndre Jordan managed 22 points and 10 rebounds, Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and Dwight Powell each added 19 points.

On the other hand, Karl-Anthony Towns posted 31 points, 5 boards, on 4-of-6 shooting from three, Derrick Rose scored 28 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 5 assists, Jeff Teague contributed 22 points with 9 assists. Jimmy Butler missed the game by coach decision.
