The Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki missed the preseason run and will not be ready for the Mavericks opener on October 17.

The team’s head coach, Rick Carlisle, speaking on Nowitzki’s probable return on the court, said, per nba.com: “Nowitzki is not playing for at least two weeks…It’s going to be multiple weeks, I can tell you that. But there’s no soft or hard date…He’s doing better, but has not done any significant court work. We can update you in another 10 days or so”.

The 40-year-old NBA champion has problems with a sore left ankle. Nowitzki hasn’t done any serious court work yet. Last season the 13-time NBA All-Star scored 12.0 points, grabbed 5.7 boards and made 1.6 assists per game, while shooting at 45.6 percent from the field.
