Carlo Recalcati decided to put an end to his great coaching career.
The 73-year-old coach had led the Italian national team to the bronze medal in the 2003 EuroBasket and the silver one in the 2004 Olympic Games.
“I think it’s time to just watch the games”, he told the local newspaper “La Prealpina”. “I made this decision before the summer began; I have not communicated it or announced it, but I think it is necessary to always be in a position to give 100% and what I can give today is no longer enough”, he added.
Recalcati has claimed three Italian championship titles with Varese, Fortitudo Bologna and Siena. He also remains a technical consultant of the Italian Basketball Federation.
