Antanas SireikaAntanas Sireika decided to resign after two losses in a row. One – in Eurocup against Kalise Gran Canaria and against Zalgiris in LKL. The team wasn't showing the game that was expected and Sireika chose not continue coaching Rytas.

Sireika joined Lietuvos Rytas last summer after Aleksandar Trifunovic was fired. 52-year-old coach previosly coached Siauliai, Rytas' arch rivals Zalgiris and Unics Kazan. He also was a head coach of Lithuania national team and led it to gold medals in Eurobasket 2003.

Lietuvos Rytas board director Jonas Vainauskas declared that the club will be looking for a high-profile Lithuanian coach. At the moment there are two unemployed coaches that meet this requirement. Jonas Kazlauskas is not coaching any team since Beijing Olympic Games where he leading China national team. Another unemployed coach is Kestutis Kemzura who was recently fired from Khimki.

Both Kazlauskas and Kemzura have coached Lietuvos Rytas in the past so it won't be a totally new environment for neither of them. Although Jonas Kazlauskas wasn't in the best relationships with the club at the time he left.

Meanwhile Antanas Sireika could receive an offer from Siauliai, his first club, as they wanted him in the summer.

Robertas Kuncaitis will lead Rytas until the new coach is found. The club's next game is on Tuesday in Eurocup against Azovmash Mariupol.
