Nicolas Batum spoke with FIBA and expressed his thoughts on France’s defeat to Bulgaria in the World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday.

Here is what the leader of the French team said:

On the team’s overall performance: “We have to get back to work. We have two days before the next game. So this has to be a good wake-up call for us. If we don’t play good team basketball, we can lose against anyone. Anyone can beat us.”

On the loss to Bulgaria: “We were not ready for them. That doesn’t mean we underestimated them. Everything that happened tonight we expected it. We’re not surprised about anything. We should have done a better job.”

France will have the opportunity to return to the winning track, as they host Finland in Montpellier this Sunday.
