Stratos Perperoglou, who signed with Crvena Zvezda a few days ago, spoke with Basketball Sphere and referred to his new head coach, Milan Tomic, his role in the team and Serbian basketball.

Here is what the three-time EuroLeague champion said:

On the club’s new head coach, Milan Tomic: “I talked with coach Tomic when he signed his contract. He worked for Olympiacos and we had a professional relationship in these years.

I believe he was ready to become the first coach years ago. He worked with a lot of good coaches, he has a great experience and winning attitude. It was about time for this step and I am sure he will do a great job.”

On his role in the team: “I will try to help my teammates, especially the younger ones, with my experience. I will be happy if the team achieve its goals. Whatever coach Tomic asks from me I will try to do it the best I can.”

On the Serbian basketball: “My first coach was a Serb, my whole career was shaped by the Serbian school of basketball. I believe that Serbs and Greeks have the similar mentality. I learned from them that I have to work hard to be disciplined and to always be ready. The Serbian basketball school was the most successful and had the most influenced. “
