Jorge Garbajosa is free to look for a new team, after Real Madrid strenghtened their frontcourt with the signing of Mirza Begic about a week ago. Garbajosa, 33, joined Real last season after a season in Russian Khimki.

However now he finds himself not wanted in Madrid anymore, as head coach Ettore Messina wants to give a chance to the youth in the face of Mirza Begic (25 years) and talented Montenegrin Nikola Mirotic (19 years). In this situation it looks like there isn’t any place for Garbajosa in Real’s rotation anymore.

Head coach Messina commented on Garbajosa’s situation for acb.com: “He is one of our players who still practices with us but is also ready for a new opportunity.

205-cm tall Garbajosa appeared in 11 Euroleague games for Real Madrid this season, including one start. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.7 rebounds, shooting 56% for 2 points in about 16.5 minutes per contest.
