Sarunas JasikeviciusSarunas Jasikevicius has finally signed for a team. The legendary point guard made a return to his first professional club – Lietuvos Rytas. He signed a contract till the end of the season. 34-year-old Lithuanian star has been unemployed since his contract with Panathinaikos expired in summer.

Saras will arrive in Vilnius today but expressed his strong desire to play already tomorrow in a Euroleague game against Cibona. This game is crucial for Rytas as the club is currently winless in Group C with a 0-4 record.

For the last couple of months Jasikevicius has been training with the Greek club Peristeri. According to the player himself, he is 80% ready to play. Saras has recently rejected a three-month contract offer from Unicaja who was looking for a temporary replacement for Terrell McIntyre.

Gedvydas Vainauskas, the president of Lietuvos Rytas, hopes that the 2003 European champion and four-time Euroleague champion will help to bring success to the club the way that he did in the past with the other teams.

Rytas will part ways with one of the guards in the coming days. The favourite to leave the team is Igor Milosevic who hasn’t satisfied the owners of the clubs and also takes the foreigner’s spot on the team.
