Bobby Brown has signed for Olympiacos for the remainder of the season, as the once evergreen guard looks to return to his old habits.

The 33-year-old, a former EuroLeague scoring champion for Montepaschi Siena with an average of 18.8 points a game, joins the Reds from Houston Rockets, where he merely appeared in cameo roles.

But now, with Olympiacos needing a guard, Brown can recreate new memories, like he did when he was last in the EuroLeague, and indeed when he played in China before his NBA venture.

There were rumours that circulated, roughly four years ago that Brown would sign for Olympiacos, however, those plans never came through.

Four years on and Brown is ready to form an ominous backcourt with veteran Vassilis Spanoulis who Brown is excited to work with.

“Ι feel good that is finally going to happen,” Brown said to EuroLeague outlet Eurohoops last night.

“It’s been reported by the media four years ago about me joining forces with Billy (Spanoulis) and Olympiacos. It’s finally about to come true. We will play together. I spoke with him about an hour ago for the whole situation and joining the team. I am ready to get there and finally make it work.”

Olympiacos has very notably been short in the backcourt with Spanoulis shouldering a lot of the weight. Having Brown in the line-up will free up the Greek veteran a little and take some of the load off him.

It also gives the Reds, last season’s EuroLeague runners-up a scoring option but it remains to be seen whether the American guard can relive those free-scoring days when he was in Italy.

I have been keeping up with everything, I have teammates and friends who are still playing in Europe,” Brown said.

“I just think that I can come in, bring that overall experience and leadership, Being a playmaker like I am and also scoring the ball, playing defence and just being a great guy on the locker room, that can help us win.”
